2nd Edition of The Basics of Process Mapping

by rwdamelio on January 17, 2010

Coming soon.

I finally completed the draft for the 2nd edition and sent it to my publisher January 3, 2010.

As the production process progresses, or when I hear from the publisher, I’ll pass along the latest information.

What to expect:

Assuming that what I sent to the publisher makes it into the book, there are 3 main differences that you will see, (if you’ve read the 1st edition).

All new graphics throughout.  I’m guessing there are more than 75 graphics that are new.

I’ve included 4 completely new chapters (out of 7 total).

I use an integrated example to illustrate all 3 maps.  In English, this means I show you how each map may be used to add to your knowledge by providing a different “view” of the same work.

Is there anything that didn’t change?

Yes.  The 3 map types are the same:

  1. Relationship Map
  2. Swimlane Diagram
  3. Flowchart

It really is “new and improved.”

No brag, just fact.

Welcome to my BOPM Blog

by rwdamelio on January 4, 2010

I suppose it is hard to believe that there is a blog devoted to all things process mapping!

Someone had to do it, so why not me?  I did write a book on the subject that some of you may have seen.

Please use the blog to comment on anything related to process maps, the Basics of Process Mapping book in particular, or if you’d like me to react to any mapping challenges you’ve encountered.

Or, send me an email if you prefer. I’m creating material on additional types of maps, such as Value Stream Maps, System Maps, Strategy Maps, etc. which may find it’ s way into a new book soon.

Tell me what you would like to see included.

Do you use mapping software? Got any opinions or preferences between Visio, Igrafx or your own favorite?
